Reference values describe the mineral. They are not laboratory results for an individual product.
How Color Forms
Iron-related defects and irradiation are involved in its purple coloration. Color may be uneven within a crystal; a photograph is not a reliable treatment test.
Varieties & Names
Pale and deep purple material belong to the same variety. Trade descriptions of color quality should not be treated as laboratory grades or verified geographic origins.
Localities
Brazil is a major amethyst locality discussed by GIA. Locality information describes mineral occurrences, not the documented source of an individual Zoe Gems bead.
Identification & Treatments
Natural and laboratory-grown amethyst exist. Heat can alter quartz colors. A visual check for inclusions is not by itself proof of natural origin or an absence of treatment.
Care
For finished bead jewelry, begin with a soft cloth and follow the instructions for the whole piece, including cord, metal and any coatings. Avoid impacts and sudden heat changes. Do not use abrasive home authenticity tests; they can damage a finished surface.
