How Color Forms

GIA describes microscopic silicate fibers, related to dumortierite, as the source of pink color in typical massive rose quartz. Rare well-formed pink crystals require more specific discussion; do not assume every pink quartz specimen has identical color physics.

Varieties & Names

Star rose quartz describes an optical effect from oriented inclusions. Asterism is an observation, not proof of a universal quality grade or special biological effect.

Localities

Occurrence information needs a locality-specific reference. This entry does not assign a mining country to Zoe Gems products; product origin should be supported by supplier records.

Identification & Treatments

Pink glass and other pink gems can resemble rose quartz. Cloudiness, color and a low price are not conclusive tests. Unusual transparency or strong color deserves a clear material description.

Care

For finished bead jewelry, begin with a soft cloth and follow the instructions for the whole piece, including cord, metal and any coatings. Avoid impacts and sudden heat changes. Do not use abrasive home authenticity tests; they can damage a finished surface.
